Tizian Aellig is a self-taught artist. During a period of sabbatical, he began to create in his early 30s. At first he created minimalist line drawings on paper. Later, he added colored areas and lines. This was followed by paintings on canvas and sculptures made of steel. The material steel points to Tizian's professional roots as a trained locksmith. He has remained faithful to the craft; for example,
he makes the frames for his works himself.
Tizian, who grew up in the small village of Reigoldswil in the Basel region and now lives in Basel, works very intuitively. He has developed his own language for color combinations and shapes, and his compositions feature unique harmonies.
